Yesterday the news broke that WIZARD magazine would cease publication immediately and that most of the staff had been laid off. Publisher Gareb Shamus stated in the news release that WIZARD would become a digital-only publication beginning with the February issue.

Many years ago I used to read WIZARD every month and enjoy it. But a few years ago I grew tired of the pop culture push and the feature articles that offered no substance. I haven’t read an issue in at least 3 years and haven’t missed it, so the announcement means nothing to me as far as my comic book information is concerned.

But it obviously DOES mean something to those employees who were laid off, some it seems without any notice. Here is an interview with one of them. I wish them all well and hope they find more enjoyable employment soon.
