Web site FirstShowing.net says Jon Favreau will NOT be returning to direct Iron Man 3.

Reasons are cited that assign blame to both the studio and the director. Apparently negotiations with the studio for IM2 were so odious to Favreau that he has no desire to be in business with Marvel again, while some sources claim Favreau had too high of an asking price for the studio’s taste.

Either way, it’s too bad. I liked IM2, not as much as I did IM, but almost. It seems like star Robert Downey, Jr and Favreau have a good working relationship, which is always helpful in big budget movies. I’m hoping Shellhead doesn’t get lost in the shuffle of The Avengers.

And I’m wondering if this ties in at all to the recent news that Gwyneth Paltrow would not be appearing in The Avengers movie.
